Finding momentum stocks before the crowd

Momentum traders look for stocks that are already moving and have the participation to keep moving. A big percentage change on its own can be one thin print; a big change confirmed by heavy volume is much more likely to be a genuine move that other traders are watching too.

This momentum scanner combines both conditions. A stock qualifies when it is up at least 5% and trading at 1.5 times its normal volume or more. Qualifying stocks are ranked by percentage change, with price, volume, relative volume and the latest headline shown so you can quickly judge whether there is a catalyst.

Momentum alerts let you choose the change % that matters to you — 20% by default — and fire when a stock crosses it. Combine it with the new-mover and relative-volume alerts to catch names as they start running. With DayTradingNews open in a browser tab, alerts arrive as an on-screen pop-up, an optional sound and a desktop notification when the tab is in the background. Turn on email alerts and they reach your inbox even when the site is closed — batched to at most one email every five minutes.

Scanner results and alerts are for members. Start a 3-day free trial — a card is required to prevent fake accounts, and you can cancel anytime during the trial without being charged. Members get alerts on every stock on the scanner, pushed in real time. Momentum can reverse sharply, especially in low-float and low-priced stocks. Use alerts as a starting point for your own research — this is educational information, not investment advice.
