How real-time stock alerts work

Day trading is a timing problem. The stocks that move the most each morning usually show their hand early — a gap on unusual volume, often with a headline behind it — and by the time a move is obvious on a chart, much of it can be gone. Real-time stock alerts close that gap: instead of watching a scanner all morning, you decide what matters and get told when it happens.

DayTradingNews alerts are built on the same live scanner feed as our pre-market scanner. You can switch on four kinds of alert: a new stock entering the scanner, a gap or percentage change crossing your threshold (20% by default), relative volume crossing your threshold (5x normal by default), and a breaking headline published within the last hour. An optional maximum price lets you focus on low-priced movers.

With DayTradingNews open in a browser tab, alerts arrive as an on-screen pop-up, an optional sound and a desktop notification when the tab is in the background. Turn on email alerts and they reach your inbox even when the site is closed — batched to at most one email every five minutes. Alerts only fire on changes — a stock crossing a level or arriving on the list — so you are not flooded with everything that was already moving when you opened the page. Each alert fires once per stock per day.

Scanner results and alerts are for members. Start a 3-day free trial — a card is required to prevent fake accounts, and you can cancel anytime during the trial without being charged. Members get alerts on every stock on the scanner, pushed in real time. Alerts are information, not recommendations: a stock crossing a threshold says nothing about where it goes next. Everything here is educational and is not investment advice.
